... today cuz i went to check on him and
he was GONE GONE GONE....
i was somewhat frightened because i had no
idea how long he was gone or wtf he was in
relation to my house....
however, i picked up the couch and there
he was... running around within the couch
(its a sleeper couch!)....
i finally pinned him under the protective
flap beneath the cushions...
and returned him safely to his cage...
he's a cutie....
but i did feel a bit weird that he was in
my couch all day and i didn't even know it.

i'm sure he appreciates living in my tank as
opposed to being traumatized by the cats and
ending up as a meal

if you are so sure then you should give him a little door so that he can come and go as he pleases.

does the tank have a lid? How'd it get out in the first place?

TG's earlier posts reminded me of my pet rat, a big Willard-looking stray I caught while it was still a baby. Rats can be trained, so when I had him (1988-1991), his cage DID have a miniature swinging doggy-door on it, so he could run out whenever he pleased. But he knew the cage was where the good food was, so always returned.
Mice can be equated to Cats, in that neither can be trained to follow verbal commands. Rats therefore equate to Dogs, in that they can be trained with verbal commands, and simple 'Pavlov's Dogs' psychology.

the tank does have a lid.... one of those screened
things that are good for turtles and whatnot.
i had a coupla rats (in succession)... however,
maybe its just me... but i preferred my mice
over my rats... as it seemed my mice were more
conforming to me as opposed to my dumbass rats.
maybe they were just mental
